A coach’s professional conduct is governed by the Code of Conduct for Coaches. The major goals of the code are to uphold a specific standard of coaching, to safeguard the welfare of people, groups, and animals that coaches deal with, as well as to provide coaches with reference points on how to respond in challenging circumstances. The Code of Conduct encourages coaches to act honorably and responsibly toward the athletes they are in charge of. As a result of the coach’s job as a role model, particularly for kids and teenagers, coaches are continuously under pressure to act and behave appropriately.
